Joy: The Product of Fellowship

November 4, 2009 in Fellowship by Tonia

“For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost” (Romans 14:17).

God has a realm of life for His children, and living in this realm is exciting. It is exciting when a man knows that he was created for God’s pleasure. When he becomes awakened to this truth, his relationship with his Heavenly Father becomes one that is filled with joy. But the one who has not yet found the reason for living leads a self-arranged life without a ray of hope for the future. When you know who you are, what you have and what you can do in Christ, you find life exciting.

Joy is the fruit of the Spirit. If someone feels that he cannot pray to God, the same way, he will feel that God cannot answer his prayers. This is because there is no relationship between them. There is an emptiness in a natural man’s life that needs to be filled by God. This relationship with God gives him joy. Joy is the product of fellowship with God, and fellowship is the secret of joy. Every born-again Christian has all the fruit of the spirit indwelling him because he has the nature of God.

You might feel that you are hot-tempered, quarrelsome or proud, but if you have given your life to Jesus Christ, you have all that it takes to exhibit the nature of God. All you need do is to allow your recreated human spirit to dominate, then you will begin to experience the manifestation of the fruit in your life. The nature of God is in you and that makes you all that He wants you to be. You must recognise and acknowledge who you are and where you belong, for you to live like Him. You must understand the kingdom in which you belong.
